Sentinelese: The remotest people in the world

Have you ever wondered what people group has the least access to the gospel?

The Sentinelese may be the greatest missions challenge anywhere! The Sentinelese are considered the remotest people in the world. The Sentinelese are probably the people of the world most cut off from the gospel and hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.

They are a Nigrito tribe with a population of 250 and inhabit the remote North Sentinel Island situated to the west of Port Blair on the Andaman Islands. They do not interact with anyone outside of their Sentinelese tribe.

No one is permitted to go onto the North Sentinelese Island. Sentinelese speak their own language that is called Sentinelese. This language is not understood by anyone outside the island and they do not understand any other languages. Because of their geographical closeness to other Negritos, their language is considered to be member of the Andamanese family of languages. Very little is known about their life style and culture.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is Union territory of India, famous for the exotic wildlife, coral reefs and remote tribals which are considered among the most backward tribes in the world. Andaman and Nicobar consist of 572 Islands East of Madras extending north to Burma and South to Indonesia.

There are about 30 islands, in Andaman, which are inhabited. During the British rule, convicts (freedom fighters) from the Indian mainland were deported to the islands as a form of punishment. There are at least 26 Main Indian languages and unique tribal languages that have as many as 1,400 distinct dialects.

Foreigners require a permit to visit the Andaman. A 30-day permit is granted on arrival at Port Blair (either by air or sea). Much of the archipelago remains off limits to foreigners even with the permit. Jet airways have daily flights to and from Andaman Islands from Chennai during the tourist season, which begins in October and ends in May.

Many feared this tribe was wiped out December 26, 2004 during the Tsunami. An Indian coastguard helicopter flew low over Sentinel Island and confirmed the tribe survived. They may have survived the devastation by using age-old early warning systems of noticing changes in the behavior of wildlife and ran to high ground for safety.

Pray for the Sentinelese to know the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Mark 11:17 Jesus taught them, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples” (ethnos).

96 Responses to Sentinelese: The remotest people in the world

  1. D.T. says:

I speak for the whole world when I say Christians are on a mission to destroy other cultures and brain wash them into believe what the Christian beliefs which is ridiculous. If a god wanted the whole world to follow him then he should let those people know not fellow human beings who think that they are right.

    • C.M. says:

Wow. This site is sickening. What makes you think these people—or other remote tribes—need whatever it is you are attempting to instill upon them? They’ve lived on that island for 60,000 years. Well before whatever drivel you’re spewing was invented. And to be clear, they are not backwards. They’re an ancient tribe. You wouldn’t dare describe Jesus as backwards would you?

      • C.M. says:

Not directed towards you D.T. Im actually on your side.

      • J.P. says:

If you think that this site is sick then get off. No one asked you to get on here. Is this the best thing you can do with your time? Get on random websites and bash the people that put them up here?

      • b says:

At J.P., I was researching this tribe’s culture for a speech and came across this site in Google. I really hope the people who created this site do not try to give them the “good news” about christ. Religion has caused wars and hate throughout all of the mainland’s history and these people have been completely unaffected by the ignorance religion presents. They have been living on that island for approximately 70,000 years which is about 67,950 years before jesus was even born. I don’t understand why you would want this tribe to feel the pain and hate religion has brought upon the rest of the world. If it works for you than great…their way of life obviously works for them, so leave it be.

      • Dan says:

Of course there’s not a shred of documentary evidence that the tribe has been there that long. Another poster claims it’s 70,000 years – clearly neither of you has a clue. In fact as the Sentinelese are descended from Noah like the rest of us, they haven’t been a distinct tribe for longer than 4,000 years, and possibly much less. Hence the “well before” inference is null and void. FYI, in capsule form, Christianity is much older than the time of Jesus.

    • Alejandro says:

      amen

    • vinaypaul says:

      PRAISE THE LORD

    • What if. says:

could you clarify something for me? How is spreading the gospel brain washing when one of the fundamental principals of Christianity is the freedom to choose Christ? Secondly, In God’s word It says rather plainly that he does want the whole world to follow him and that he wants Christians as his ambasadors. Mathew ch 28 verses 19 and 20 are called the great commission and it is a command from Jesus himself. It states: Go and make disciples of every nation baptizing them in the name of the father son and holy spirit. I can understand the sentiment behind your statement that Christianity has destroyed other cultures, after all the history of the church is full of people who did things in the name of Christ that God did not approve of but, Is that an accurate picture of evangelical Christians today?

      • Trevor claus says:

        yes

      • Maureen Corona says:

Totally agree with “what if’. As Christians we are told by Jesus to spread His Word to all peoples and nations. God has given man free choice……..hence once you have heard the news of Jesus Christ you have the right to accept or decline. The choice is yours. I look at it this way……. If someone came to me and told me here is a life insurance for free….accept it and you will have life everlasting…..decline it …….no life everlasting. Choice is yours….sounds like a gamble? Well I’d rather take the insurance gamble than be left with no hope. Remember you can take nothing with you when you die. All the wealth and everything you have gained on this earth stays behind. But if I accept the insurance which is His assurance….I have HOPE of the eternal life spoken of in the Bible………no more sickness, death or suffering but a perfect life of love and happiness together with our loved ones who have also accepted the “insurance”. Life forever on this very earth purged of all sin which is the cause of so much evil and suffering. The earth will be made new again …a heaven for Gods people. A huge mistake so many make is to laugh off and deny the existence of satan as some fictionist cartoon character.Satan and his demonic followers who were all cherished angels in heaven at some time tried to take over the throne of God…and there was war in Heaven and they were cast out of Heaven and fell to earth where they spend their time causing havoc,,,,,,,,,,,urging people to take drugs,to war. They smash up marriages and cause mayhem and disaster…..and then make people believe that it is God who did it who augustrated all the terrible things happening. If you don’t believe in God he is elated for he has won you over to his side already and you are set adrift….he couldn’t care what happens to you…drugs suicide? his laughing. The big game he is after is Gods people those that believe in Jesus Christ. His greatest aim is to make followers of Christ, deny Christ and thus follow him. But as followers of Jesus “the rock of salvation” we have Him to cling to,to pray to,to hold fast to. And the ultimate knowledge that we will be united with Him one day and with all our loved ones…yes even our beloved pets will be recreated. The Bible (Gods Word) tells us no man can perceive (imagine in our tiny minds) the treasures God has stored up in heaven for those who believe in Him who believe in His Son Jesus Christ. It is therefore only fitting and right that as followers of Jesus Christ we follow His command to take the Gospel to ALL mankind. These people have a right to be offered the free insurance………which is the assurance that all who believe in Jesus shall not perish but have eternal life.

    • once was lost says:

Just out of curiousity, what makes you think you are right? How would God let you know? If He appeared to you would you know it, or would you think it is something else, to quote Dickens “there’s more of gravy than the grave in you”. So maybe God would have to come down in human form so we would have a better chance of understanding. But then maybe then we wouldn’t recognize who it was, so maybe something that only God could do, I don’t know like raise people from the dead. But then maybe people would say, “that can’t be God, must be something evil”, because surely God would strike all the bad people dead. But if he did that then people would say, “nah a loving God would find a way to save people without killing them, he would have to do something like sacrifice himself.” But if he did all that then obviously there are those who would say “I didn’t see it myself so what these witnesses say about it is just made up…”
But if there are those who do believe that God himself came down, became man, offered salvation without killing innocent people or animals, rose from the dead himself, and they dare suggest to others that maybe what they have been looking for has been there and really wants to save you from death…they should just shut up?

    • Gibin says:

God did let the people know him…..actually he visited them everyday (the case of Adam and Eve) …..but they sinned…..still God dint destroy them both. Their descendents also sinned and therefore God wiped out all mankind except the family of Noah who was righteous. And again his descendents sinned. After all this we don’t have the right to say that God dint make us know him. Brother, Life with Christ is based on faith. Faith is for someone we haven’t seen. If we had seen what is the significance of faith.
We believe in Stone age…because we have seen one? No right….
Christ did come to this earth…..and its the duty of the people who are called by him to spread his Gospel……which is not a man-made fairy-tale but the breath of God.
We are spreading the truth not to destroy people but to build them for God so that they will have eternal life. If we destroy a corrupt culture…..friend please understand that it is for them and not for us

      • Bill says:

God loved the Sentinelese so much that he gave his one and only son to die on the cross as an atoning sacrifice for them. He is the ‘Lamb of God” slain for the whole world. When I repented of my sin and asked Jesus, the risen Lord to come into my heart, he did! I was gloriously saved and transformed. I desire the same for the Sentinelese and all who read these words.

  2. mosesonmissions says:

Jesus said, “if you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:19

    • vinaypaul says:

      Thank you

    • Romans 10:14-15 says:

Hi! I genuinely believe that God has called me to go to the Sentinelese and I was wondering if you could email me at jchau@oru.edu? I have some questions that I’d like to ask you. Thanks and may God bless you in your work for Him!

      • phil evans says:

you must be mentally ill. leave these people alone.

      • Bill Lesko says:

Hi, are you still sincere in your call to reach the Sentinelese? I want to encourage you to follow the Lord’s leading daily. He has all authority in heaven and on earth and he wants to reach the Sentinelese more than you do. And he will use you to do it only if you submit to his Lordship and follow him faithfully every day. You can’t do it without him. But you can do all thing through Christ who strengthens you, if you stay connected to him.

      • Kellye Kramer says:

Well, I guess we all know how this turned out now… How does it feel to be partly responsible for this mans death? And who knows how many other deaths by exposing these indigenous peoples to germs for which they have no defense…

    • kk1353 says:

Are you kidding me? Christians are far and away the most priveleged people in the world. Sure there are some places where you would be killed for being a Christian, but there are many more places where you would be killed for being an atheist.

The world doesn’t hate Christians, we just hate it when you act like insensitive, inconsiderate children. The Sentinelese cleary don’t want outsiders invading their territory, just let them be. Get Christians in America to act more Christ-like, then you can worry about people on the other side of the planet.

      • J.P. says:

How can you say Christians as a whole are the most priveleged people in the world? Christians are from all over the world: The United States, Mexico, Brazil, and India just to name a few. No one can deny that these four countrys are vastly different in several ways. So to say that Christians as a whole are the most priveleged people in the world is an ignorant statement.
And to the insensitive and inconsiderate aspect… you are right to an extent. There are a whole lot of “Christians” that are hypocritical and think that they are better than everyone else; however, that does not go for all Christians.
As a Christian I have to say that I agree with the mission of this site, simply because it follows the Biblical priciple of preaching to the whole world. i.e. Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

    • phil evans says:

hide behind verses. the truth is. as soon as contact is made the tribe will die of diseases. the truth is, you are hated not for your message, but your clear stupidity.

      • Dan says:

“as soon as contact is made the tribe will die of diseases”

Not necessarily – given that some Sentinelese individuals have already been taken into contact with outsiders and later returned to their island. I also think that the epidemic dangers following the Boxing Day tsunami would have wiped them out already if they were really that genetically vulnerable.

  3. Knowledge says:

The Sentenelese are perceptive and smart. It is there resistance to modernization, and western interference that has kept there tribe in existence for 60,000 years.. If the nations of Africa would have adopted this same type of resistance towards the western modernized man.. AIDS and self destruction among there own kind, would be non existent.. The Sentenelese have been impervious to the western modernized man’s attempts to destroy there way of life..

  4. george morales says:

why is it that these so called christians can t follow christian principles

Christ doesnt bother me but Christians scare me
learn to live and let live

    • Dan says:

Hmm, maybe the reason Christ doesn’t bother you is because you’ve never read what he said. I say to you, do I scare you because of who I am, or the words of Christ I bring?

      John 3:18-20

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved

      • mushet says:

AMEN DAN! GREAT RESPONSE! God bless all the born again Christians and those who would seek to get the Gospel of the grace of God to these poor deceived pagan natives. We love these people. Don’t blame we born again Christians for the evils done twisting God’s name. Jesus Himself cares about them and died for them. Anyhow, Jesus won and is the Great Winner and all who trust in Jesus Christ and His shed blood atonement alone for eternal life are winners. Everyone who rejects the Lord Jesus Christ as God and their only Saviour/Messiah, are eternal losers who will, sadly, burn in Hell forever because they rejected Messiah Jesus when He said He is the only Way in John 14:6.

I have a good idea of how to reach them and you can contact me if you want on this.

  5. bhriguaneja says:

These people are clearly not J-man’s peeps since they refuse to wear clothes and don’t see anything wrong with their nudity. Your J-man said that the apple of knowledge made Adam and Eve aware of Nudity. These people: CLEARLY NOT AWARE. #!#!# (comment edited) Christianity and its other fellow religions. I really hope someday before I die (and not descend into another world) people open their eyes.

  6. Me says:

Haha oh whatever, good luck trying to poison their minds and spirits before getting an arrow through you.

    • phil evans says:

i think god as called me to patrol the island from a distance. picking off poisioness dogooders who approach the island. this is a sickening misguided site. what closed minds. leave them and others alone.

      • Dan says:

Perhaps he has, but which god are you referring to? I notice you aptly used the lowercase g god in your comment… very telling.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. – 2 Cor 4:4

  7. What if. says:

I would merely like to point out that one of the fundamental concepts of christianity is choice. No one is forced to accept Christ. The job of christians is not to convert tribes, it is to plant the seed of the gospel and let God do the rest. It makes no sense to not share the gospel in order to preserve a culture. After all isn’t it up to the Sentinelese how they preserve their culture? By presenting Christianity we merely offer them a choice. Perhaps they only act the way they do because they do not know anything else. As far as westernization being a threat to tribal populations that is accurate to some degree. In the past and even today many people have forgotten the real purpose of spreading the gospel and done things in the name of Christ that God does not approve of. However, there is more than one side to this. While great harm has been done by people with alterior motives under the guise of missionaries, great good has been acomplished by missionaries with the right intentions.

    • J says:

People who aren’t born into Christianity only accept Christ in times of weakness and despair. Too bad you didn’t get to “plant the seed” immediately after the tsunami. Perhaps you can have another chance now by contacting them for long enough to expose diseases and disseminate the majority the population. That’ll give you the perfect opportunity to give them the “choice” of Christ. I mean, it worked for all the other non-European civilizations, so it’s worth a college try here.

      • what if. says:

How did you come to the conclusion that those are the only two scenarios in which one accepts Christianity? secondly could you explain to me why all of modern medical technology and understanding would not be enough to at least set parameters for interaction with this people group that would not be detrimental?

      • Dan says:

Your naive generalization is blown up by multitudes of counterexamples – in fact very often the opposite is the case. Didn’t Darwin apostatize largely because of his daughter dying? Make your mind up – either your claim is largely false, or the “problem of evil” is a nullity.

  8. phil evans says:

i will pray. i will pray that you nevet contact them or any other group. the harm you will cause. leave them alone.

    • phil evans says:

i am so angry with you idiots that want to mess up lives in lands that have nothing to do with you. you have enough problems within a one mile radius. leave these people alone. if you dare go thereci can only hppecthat the first arrows silence you. go and find non belivers in your area. vile vile vile.

  9. Philip says:

sickening site, they are not backwawrds, and you need to leave them alone, removing my posts does not change the truth, the truth is, by contacting this tribe you will give them disease and kill them.

  10. Marc says:

So you think it’s Christian to go and infect these people with all kinds of diseases? To bring them what you think it civilization and salvation? I myself am Christian and I pray to the Lord that you shall realize that threatening innocent people’s lifestyle and possibly their life is not His work – on the contrary. Look into the mirror and recognize all the sins you commit every single day. Don’t add to that by destroying cultures that don’t do you any harm. Leave them in peace – for their and for your own good.

    • Jared says:

Marc, if you say that spreading the gospel is not christianity then you don’t have a good understanding of what it means to be a christian.

      • Bill Lesko says:

If you believe in the Risen Christ of the Bible, He is the one who said “Make disciples of all nations.” It’s an issue of obedience to the One who is coming back to judge those who refuse to believe His gospel.

    • Dan says:

And what if those cultures are doing themselves harm? Cannibalism, widow-burning, human sacrifice. Do cultures like those deserve to be allowed to continue? Aren’t you glad those have been suppressed around the world over the last few centuries?

  11. Lancashire Tom says:

there should be a mission sent to teach the Gospel and also morals as these tribesmen engage in perverse orgys on the beach and are clearly grossly inbred which could lead to violent mental problems in the kids.

    • Richard Rogers says:

This is directed to Tom Lancashire who seems to be BEYOND saving as far as logic goes but here I go giving it the old college try. As soon as I learned about this tribe several years ago along with other isolated tribes I knew protestant Evangelist Christians were going to do their absolute best to try and convert these poor peoples to Christ.

First, exposure of missionaries to these people threatens them to disease which would slaughter the entire islands inhabitants similar to what the Spanish missionaries did to all of South America during the Spanish Colonial Era.

Second, perhaps you aren’t aware that they have been living there for over 60,000 years perfectly fine… LONG before Christ even was on the planet, I promise you they will be fine without intervention.

      Finally regarding your statement
“these tribesmen engage in perverse orgys on the beach and are clearly grossly inbred which could lead to violent mental problems in the kids.”

How do you even know that? They have had virtually no contact from the outside world let alone been documented mating with each other, and even if they were engaging in orgys and inbreeding how would you fix it? Mate with them? You are beyond a zealot sir as everyone on this site is. Leave these people and the rest of the uncivilized world alone their primitive nature is their gift.

    • Robin says:

These tribes people already have morals. They’re not trying to convert you, are they?

  12. Lancashire Tom says:

Thankyou Mr Rogers for taking part in discussion. Yes the Spanish in S America did alot of wrong but they ended the evil Aztec ways of satanic ritual killing of their own kind. Where Christianity goes better moral values follow. the info about Sentinelese orgys is from secondhand eyewitness accounts which are all we can go on at this time. all previously known non-Christian tribal cultures have revealed high levels of depravity including the Celts here in Britain so it is highly probable that the sentinelese are as perverse as reports suggest. They need to know the Love of God instead of love of lust.

    • Robin says:

You know nothing about them. They have lived for thousands of years without your “help”.
All your presence would do is introduce them to western diseases which they have no immunity for.
The conquistadors brought smallpox to the Americas, killing tens of millions. You want to see that repeated if they’re introduced to polio, malaria, ect?

    • Mark Gruben says:

Tom, you said that “all previously known non-Christian tribal cultures have revealed high levels of depravity” ? What proof exists that “all” of them have revealed such? And what does “high level of depravity” mean; what, exactly, is a high level, as opposed to a moderate level, or a low level? And what appears to be “depravity” to one culture is not necessarily so to all others, which would include the “orgies” purported by the second-hand accounts you mention, but conveniently, fail to cite by name. Furthermore, you state that “it is highly probable” that the Sentinelese are “perverse,” which is unreasonably subjective and offensive, and like the term “depravity,” is based on culture and is therefore not universally definable. Apparently, you disapprove of the Sentinelese…..and you have that right…..but that doesn’t give you the right to judge them or to try to impose your rather narrow version of “the Love of God” on their culture.

  13. TRIALNERROR says:

I believe it is my personal mission to visit the Sentinelese and warn them about the various religions queueing up to have them converted to their own particular brand of Man in the Skyism. I think they should be warned in particular about Christians and taught to shoot on sight.any one bearing a cross

I hope they already have their own religion, which has stood them in good stead for over 50 millenia, and show no inclination whatsoever to forego it.

    • Mark Gruben says:

If you were actually to go to North Sentinel Island, you need not worry about warning them of anything…..you probably would not even be afforded the opportunity. They ALREADY shoot on sight anyone who does not belong on the island, regardless of their intent.

  14. Francis says:

Leave this tribe alone. All religions are man-made so I’m sure these people have their own set of silly beliefs, and they certainly don’t need to trade them for your Christian set of silly beliefs. Back off.

  15. jopp says:

You’re all sick if you think what they need is your religion instilled upon them.

  16. Becky Evans says:

Yeah. You xtians just go there and try to convert these people to your rubbish. You’ll get what you deserve for trying to destroy yet another indigenous culture.

  17. Robin says:

Why can’t you just leave them alone?

  18. Christians are a cult. Spreading the word of your leader is Cultist behaviour. Evangelists will invariable start to behave ‘perversely’ once they realise they are just perverting innocent people for the benefit of christian hierarchy. I hope the Sentinelese kick your unenlightened arses.
If you want to save peoples lives then get your cultist crusaders to stop bombing the world.

  19. Mark Gruben says:

I agree with those who say to LEAVE THESE PEOPLE ALONE! Those who feel they have a special calling to go to North Sentinel to “bring the good news” are deluded, naive, and outrageously sanctimonious. FIrst, how would they get to the island safely without being attacked by islanders armed with bow-and-arrow? Second, how would they communicate “the good news” to people who cannot understand the words, the symbols, the intentions, or even the way the messengers dress or behave? Third, what could Christianity possibly mean to these people, or what benefit would they derive from it that is tangible and meaningful, and not achievable in any other way? Fourth, if there are those who feel the Sentinelese must be “converted” or “saved” (and why must they?) what makes Christianity preferable to any other world faith? To summarily proclaim that Christianity is superior to other world faiths, smugly using its own dogma as proof, is elitist, narrow-minded, illogical……and endlessly debatable.

    • Bill Lesko says:

Jesus himself commands all people on earth to repent of their sins and believe in him. He died on the cross as the sacrificing atonement for the sins of the world. John the Baptist said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Jesus is the promised Messiah and the only Savior. Jesus the risen Lord, not the Pope or the church or religious people, but Jesus himself said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, therefore go and make disciples of all nations (the original Greek word for nations is ethnos = ethnic group). In modern terms, the risen Lord told his followers to make disciples of all ethnic and language groups on earth. I’m glad the first followers obeyed the Lord because I am a follower of Jesus today because of their obedience. And I intend to obey and finish the job so that all peoples on earth can hear and have the opportunity to be saved before Jesus keep his promise to return to earth and judge the unrepentant and then establish his kingdom of peace and righteousness over all the earth (even over North Sentinel Island). I invite you to repent of your sins and become a disciple of Jesus, the only savior of the world.

      • Anonymous says:

But what good is evangelizing people if they’re all dead from chickenpox ten years later? What good did you bring about? All you’ve done is bring death to innocent people.

      • Anonymous says:

How do you KNOW that they WILL die of chickenpox ten years later?

      • mosesonmissions says:

Listen to this: God publicly endorsed Jesus by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him. But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed and (he was) nailed to a cross and killed. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

        Acts 2:22-24

      • Nobody says:

Geee… It is Buda himself! No, Sorry, it is Krishna himself! No, Sorry, it is Joseph himself! No, Sorry, forget about, I AM GOD and I have decided that the people of North Sentinel need to hear the word of the Jesus in order to be saved, because the word of Buda it is not very comprehensible for them. And it is because I AM GOD and I act like it. Let me be with you and we may become one!!

      • Maureen says:

I know its a bit late in replying Bill but I have to say what wonderful replies you have given on Moses on mission.

  20. Bill Lesko says:

Jesus, the risen Lord has all authority in heaven and on earth. He commands all people everywhere to repent of their sins and become his disciples. That included you and me. He created us and then purchased us with his blood in order to deliver us from Satan’s power. Being a disciple of Jesus is not an option. It is a necessity. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Jesus is coming back soon to rule and reign over all the peoples on earth and to judge those who refuse to follow him. He is only delaying his coming because he is loving and patient and “not willing that any should parish.” I urge you to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God by become a true disciple of Jesus the risen Lord. Then pray with me that the Sentinelese will soon hear the good news about Jesus Christ.

The risen Living Savior is coming back soon. He knows how to overcome all diseases and can cure all. He tole us to preach to all creation. I can’t believe anyone would want a part of the human family to be isolated from the rest of us indefinitely. Disease or not disease eternal life is offered in the Gospel. We will all be dead soon anyway. With Christ we live forever!

  22. Leon says:

Just let these islanders alone… Why would not you instead go and sell your gospel “just so stories” in Afganistan or Iran? Do it, and God will bless you

Great post! Thank you for going and fulfilling The Great Commission!!

One of these comments below asks if we have nothing better to do than criticize this website. Well do you have nothing better to do than to brainwash a people that has lived sustainably for eons.
The book you follow today is totally different than the original and has been changed many times by the elites and after a few generations its accepted as fact. Leave these people alone and molest your own.
Keep your fairytale to your own

    • Dan says:

Not my Bible. If you truly believe this and are not just using this as an excuse to ignore the Bible, then you may want to watch this video to gain a better understanding of your half truth. Yes, I did say you were part right, but God preserves his Word despite the depravity of man. However, the perversions still get printed by the millions. The world being flat was once accepted as fact too. Majority acceptance does not make something true.

PS I say evolution is a fairy tail but if I want an expensive piece of paper to get a job at a fancy firm, the schools will shove that down my thought.

  25. John says:

I’m praying for these people to see the light of Christ. Worthy is the Lamb!

  26. Nobody says:

Try to take the word of Christ, Buda or even mine to them and two things might happen:
1- They will all DIE before you can even open the holy book because you stupid ASSHOLE brought with you deceases that they were not immune to.
2- You DIE before you can open the holy book!!
    Pretty simply!!

  27. CarlosS S says:

why dont you just leave those pig alone and put you gospel in the ass.

    • Maureen says:

For you Carlos……….Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Proverbs 13;3
As for the Sentinelese peoples…….For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son,that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have ETERNAL life.

  28. Christian missionary bastards, if you come to our island with your filthy bible we’ll……..edited profanity and violence

    • mushet says:

That shows you how sickening and evil you are and that you serve Satan the devil. He is your god. Everyone who rejects the Lord Jesus Christ worships Satan either directly or indirectly. Everyone who is not a born again child of God is a child of Satan, spiritually. That goes for ALL who are not regenerated blood washed born again Christians. No matter how outwardly moral or refined their behavior appears to be. Jesus Himself said it: He said to lost religious people and that includes atheists, ye are of your father the Devil.
Your behavior and words show you do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and your heart is full of murder and hate. The true haters are those who oppose the Gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Eventually Jesus will return visibly and He will rule with a rod of iron. ALL people will bow before Him and acknowledge that He is LORD, God, and Messiah. Those who choose to believe on and trust in Him before that time will be saved. Those who choose not to, and if that is you, will be made by His angels and Himself to bow before Him. He will rule with a rod of iron and He has a sharp two edged sword that comes from His mouth, the word of God is the sword of the Spirit of God, sharper than any two edged sword. If you reject the Lord Jesus Christ and never get saved you will stand before Him and He will say to you “Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels.”

Is that what you want, or do you want to trust in Jesus now while you are alive on Earth and be forever saved and have a home in Heaven and on the new Earth?

  29. Maureen says:

Be very very careful what you say….God and the Holy Bible is not to be mocked….for God will turn His judgement and vengeance on you or anyone who slanders His Name or Word. If I were you I would be trembling with fear and going on my knees to ask for God’s forgiveness and to ask Him to show you the way out of the darkness you are in and out into the light where you will find Jesus.

    • Mark Gruben says:

Maureen, I think that person was being facetious….but does make an important point. North Sentinel Island is under the jurisdiction of the Indian government, so any visitors must obtain special permission. India has never granted such permission – to any person, any group, any cause; none whatsoever. This is for the safety of both visitors and islanders. Your purpose is admirable; your cause is both reasonable and commendable. But NO ACCESS means just that. The dangers are simply too great; any attempts at defying the restriction would be seen as an act of international piracy, as well as suicidal. India is not interested in propagating martyrdom.

      • bjlesko says:

The “ruler of the kings of the earth” can change the minds and hearts of the government officials. He said, “I am the first and the last. I am the living One. I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades,” He also holds the keys to making the Sentinelese and all people groups on earth his disciples before he returns. He told us to do it with his help. He will show us the way to do it without destroying them by disease or anything else. He wants to save them and bring them out of darkness into the light of the good news of God’s kingdom and salvation through our risen Savior. We should all keep praying for the Lord’d guidance to get the job done.

      • Mark Gruben says:

All of this may bring you great comfort, but from a practical point of view, it would have little effect. The “ruler of the kings of the earth” may be able to change minds and hearts – or so you believe – but He is not readily available to make such a request on your behalf. Absent that authority, the Indian government would be highly unlikely to even consider the request as authentic, much less grant it. But you are surely aware that there are myriad other causes to which you may devote your time, energy, and resources; I would respectfully urge you to do so. The people of North Sentinel Island will simply have to live as they have for 60,000 years without your assistance.

      • Bill says:

They will be reached as so many other remote tribe have been. I hope you are alive to see it happen. I pray you will become a disciple too.

      • Maureen says:

Thank you Mark for your comment,I see what you mean. I am not sure if you are a Christian but Christians believe that one does need to believe in Jesus Christ and to accept him into our hearts and follow him. I happened to mention the Sentinelese people to an elder from our 7th day adventist church voicing my concern for them but was shown a different aspect to the situation. The elder said that he does not believe that God would turn his back on these people who have not come to hear “the good news”. He said what about all the people before Christ came to earth who had lived and died not knowing or accepting Jesus…..do you think that God will condemn them all? He said certainly not we will be judged by what we know. Not sure if its making sense Mark but it has certainly put my mind at rest as I’ m sure God understands the huge risks that will have to be taken as well as the language barrier.

      • Mark Gruben says:

Thank you, Maureen, for your thoughtful and courteous response. I understand what you are saying, but unfortunately, it’s a moot point at this time. Given the experience of other groups in the Andaman Islands, specifically the Jawara, who have been exploited and their lives disrupted in numerous ways, the Indian government will not even consider requests to visit North Sentinel Island. The Indian Navy has even set up a 3-mile restriction zone around the island, which is actively patrolled. All that aside, however, if the islanders won’t even accept gifts of food (which has been tried a number of times) isn’t that evidence enough that the islanders don’t want or need – and will not tolerate – contact from the outside world?

  30. Mark Gruben says:

Bill, I must disagree; no, the islanders will not be reached in the manner you imply, as part of an evangelical cause. The government isn’t going to permit it, and the islanders aren’t going to tolerate it. No good can possibly come from such an effort.

  31. Maureen says:

Yes, I agree with you Mark. And its as I said God knows the situation how perilous it is…who knows that we may get to meet them one day in Heaven as God is a God of miracles.

  32. Fear isn't Love says:

All of you people claiming to know your faith is infalliable, you are mentally ill. That may sound harsh or hateful, but it is just a fact. Like the fact that there is no proof of life after death. No proof of God. No proof of anything you say is truth. You don’t KNOW anything. No one does. So for you to claim you know something is true that there is no proof of whatsoever, isn’t sane. Oh but wait? That is the point right? To just believe? So basically God wants to send all logical free thinking people to hell because they aren’t gullible and desperate enough to have blind faith in religion that has caused more harm than good? That does just about everything the opposite of what Christ would have done? Megachurches, hate crimes, yeah sure, all in the name of Christ? Right. Hypocricy and lies. I won’t worship a God who wants to send the majority of his children to hell. What kind of parent, what kind of love is that? Cruel and selfish. To give something life and free will just to say you chose WRONG and now have to burn eternally for it? Please! Why the hell would you want a God like that?! I will tell you why, fear. You are cowards. You were told you would go to hell if you didn’t believe from the time you were children, just like me, only instead of believing in yourself and your own brain, you let yourself be brainwashed because you are terrified of being wrong and facing hell. That is what I hear half the time. Always being threatened with the potential punishment of hell. Well that isn’t real love on your end either. It isn’t a loving relationship period. There is no room for fear in love. A relationship with that kind of God is BASED in fear and RESULTS in fear which only leads to pain and suffering. I am 100% open to the possibility of God existing, but I will not believe in a God who would send his children to a firey hell for using the free will he gave them in the first place. I love my child more than a God like that loves anyone because my love for my child is UNCONDITIONAL. Thank you very much. Jesus seems like he was an amazing individual, and I do hope God exists and that there is life after this, but I also accept the fact there might not be, and I will simply ceast to exist the way I do when I sleep without dreaming. I will not claim to know anything I do not know, or risk wasting and ruining what quite possibly COULD be my only life, being afraid and telling others they are wrong for being different.

    • BeeAnn says:

I have not always believed and trusted my soul to the promise of Christ. You make some good points. Such as perfect love casts out all fear. Wait isn’t that biblical? Your invited to faith, faith in Christ who was indeed awesome and he said no one comes to the Father but through me. Now being a perfect father with perfect love he invites everyone to His home but seeing the mess we have made of earth He doesn’t want eternity soured by evil and selfishness and ego of man. So He offers to free us of that very nature by believing in something more than the temporal, by believing in love and submitting ourselves to and to strive for perfect love and by doing that perfect love, no harm, no wrong, no evil will be committed or permitted into His\our eternel home. God is Love , and we are commanded to love, a christian is a person who realizes that they miss that bullseye target of perfect love and cause harm and\or sin. They accept forgiveness by acknowledging that Jesus came to earth to show us what perfect love was and to offer a gift that acknowledging our sin, repenting of (being sorry And to head away from a self serving nature and towards a love relationship with his fellows and His Creator Father) its a choice, God is rightous, fair and respectful of our choices, He stands at the door knocking saying please my child join me in the eternal but leave behind your destructive ways and embrace love, see I have made A way for you through Jesus, His blood washes away those sins and His resurrection fives us eternal life! Won’t you chose to walk with Him today and always?

  33. These people didn’t have Jesus yet survived the tsunami!!!! As far as I’m concerned they don’t need him. Leave them alone they ain’t doing anything to you, keep your poison to yourself.

  34. Mark Gruben says:

On July 26, 2011, a person signing himself “Romans 10:14-15” posted the following comment – which can be seen above: “Hi! I genuinely believe that God has called me to go to the Sentinelese and I was wondering if you could email me at jchau@oru.edu? I have some questions that I’d like to ask you. Thanks and may God bless you in your work for Him!” On November 17, 2018, John Chau, a graduate of Oral Roberts University, was killed by the Sentinelese. I believe there are some on this very website who could have helped to prevent this tragedy. INSTEAD, THEY CONTRIBUTED TO IT! And you should be ashamed of yourselves.

  35. mosesonmissions says:

    Tribute to John Chau,
To a great servant of the Lord who died taking the gospel to the remote Sentinelese people. John perceived them to be the most cut off of any people on earth from the good news of great joy, the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It was very impressive how John prepared, prayed and strategized for years on how to reach the Sentinelese. In the end John visited the Sentinelese people four or five times and used a method that anthropologists had used. That is to make multiple visits giving gifts to make direct contact.

He knew the risks he was taking and wrote a letter to his mother in case he was killed taking the good news of Jesus to a people he knew would most likely be hostile.

Thank you John for your selfless dedication to put your own life at risk to see a people have the opportunity to know that Christ died for them.

I know you have inspired many believers to be bold in proclaiming the gospel. I am glad you were able to tell the Sentinelese that you loved them and that Jesus loves them. By God’s grace may they understand and respond to the message you shared in love.

John wanted the Sentinelese to know about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and why this is God’s plan of redemption and forgiveness of sins.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
